Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, China car rally to be held in 2011

UNB, Dhaka, 14 September : A cross-country car rally among Bangladesh, India, Myanmar and China will be held next year with a view to establishing regional communication and also strengthening mutual cooperation.
The route of the car rally has already been finalized starting from Kunming of China via Dhaka and Sylhet of Bangladesh and ended in Kolkata of India. Communication Minister Syed Abul Hossain disclosed this in a dissuasion meeting at Rail Bhaban in the city today. A delegation from Yunnan Province of China, led by Mi Dongsheng, director general of Development and Reformed Commission of the Province, attended the meeting.
The discussants emphasized development of regional communication, particularly on rail and road communication and they also discussed various strategic aspects of establishing rail and road communications between Bangladesh and China via Myanmar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Communication Minister said the proposed car rally would strengthen the potential of the concerted efforts in various new sectors in the upcoming days, alongside establishing regional communications and mutual cooperation among the countries.

Meghalaya CM meets PM Manmohan for Bangladesh trade
PTI, Shillong, 14 September : Meghalaya Chief minister Mukul Sangma today asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to facilitate trade with Bangladesh among other issues.
"This would be beneficial for both the countries and would help to reduce illegal activities along the international border," Sangma told over phone from New Delhi. "I told the prime minister that trading activities should be promoted and infrastructure should be improved in the border ares," he said.

One house one farm project to attain economic self-reliant
Dhaka, 14 September : Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the main objective of “One House -One Farm project is to infuse dynamism in the rural economy by turning every family into economically self-reliant.
The Prime Minister stated this while speaking at a power point presentation on overall activities of the “One House and One Farm project at the Prime Minister’s office on Tuesday. Hasina said her government initiated the program to alleviate rural poverty turning the huge population into human resources by ensuring maximum utilization of our limited land.

Rahul against 'Congress -TMC alliance' without dignity
Basirhat, 14 September : Without naming Trinamool Congress, Rahul Gandhi today said Congress will not go for any alliance without dignity in the coming Assembly polls in West Bengal, but was hopeful of a proposed tie-up.
"There will not be any unrespectable alliance and I hope we will be able to make the alliance, as proposed, happen in West Bengal before the coming Assembly election," Gandhi told a closed-door meeting of the North 24-Parganas district Youth Congress. District Congress Committee President Asit Majumder, who was present at the meeting, told PTI that Gandhi stressed the need for such an alliance to defeat the CPI(M) in the coming elections.
"We will have to take on the CPI(M) in the polls and defeat the misrule of the party. I have been saying this in almost all meetings," Majumdar quoted Gandhi as saying.
