Bangladesh, NE India rattled by 6.4-magnitude(RS) Earthquake

Dhaka, 4 February : A moderate earthquake was felt in several parts of Bangladesh Friday evening, but there are no reports as yet of any damage to life or property.
The tremor shook almost every part of the country at 7:53pm (local time). The epicentre of the 6.4-magnitude quake was the India-Myanmar border region, 85km from Imphal, the capital of the Indian state of Manipur, 392km from port city Chittagong, and 453km from capital Dhaka, where residents said they could clearly feel the ground shake for a "lengthy" period.
Dhaka Met Office confirmed the 6.4-magnitude of the quake on the Richter scale.

La Martiniere principal and 3 teachers get bail extension
Kolkata, 4 February : Kolkata High Court today extended the bail of the principal and three teachers of La Martiniere boys school in connection with the death of 13-year-old student Rouvanjit Rawla and will hear on framing of more serious charges on 17 February.
The four accused, including principal Sunirmal Chakravarthy, appeared in the city sessions court of Chief Judge Dipak Saha Ray for confirmation of the bail earlier granted by the chief metropolitan magistrate's court. The other teachers were the head of middle school, LG Ganian, David Ryon and Partha Dutta. Ray fixed 17 February as the next date of hearing for consideration of framing of charges against the accused teachers under IPC 305 (abetment to suicide). Rouvanjit, a student of class eight of La Marts, hanged himself on 12 February, 2010, after being caned by the principal and three other teachers.
