Hasina Govt behaving like emergency regime, says Khaleda Zia

Dhaka, 17 November : BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia said on Wednesday that the government was behaving exactly like the emergency caretaker administration.
Exchanging Eid greetings with foreign diplomats as well as people from different walks of life at a reception hosted by BNP at Eskaton Ladies’ Club, she said that the people celebrated Eid in distress.
She expressed her solidarity with the common people of the country, who are far from well and had to celebrate Eid in acute distress.

She conveyed her Eid greetings to the people. She recalled that two years ago on September 11, 2008, the emergency caretaker government had released her from jail.

Opposition Cong, BJP demands CPMF in Tripura civic poll
Agartala, 17 November : The Opposition Congress and BJP have demanded deployment of central paramilitary forces (CPMF) in ensuing civic body elections to Agartala Municipal Council (AMC) and 15 other Nagar Panchayats slated on 11 December next.
The Opposition representatives had raised the demand with the state election authority during the meeting yesterday and alleged since police force were in direct control of the state government, there would be every possibility of manipulation.

Wanted Maoist leader held in Murshidabad district hideout
Baharampore, Kolkata, 17 November : A Maoist leader wanted for murder was arrested in Murshidabad district Wednesday, police said.
"Acting on a tip-off, we rounded up Idrish Sheikh at Dudhsara village near Nowda police station area in the district. He was wanted in several cases, including murder, and is responsible for strengthening the Maois base in the district," said Murshidabad Superintendent of Police D.L. Meena. He added that police were hunting for his colleagues and their hideouts in the district.
